Attendance register
Objectives:
To know the systematic procedure of handling and maintaining records and registers.

Introduction:
Registers and records form the core of any organization. They provide deep insight into the state and status of the organization. A school is no exception. We maintain so many records to keep track on the events going on in school. Among these registers Attendance register has a main role. Its main function as its name suggests is to show the presence and absence of every student enrolled in the class. Besides this it also provides us with many other details like the fee details, Students’ address, admission number details for quick reference, different categories of children present in a class and their back ground and thus guides us in planning a lesson in accordance with the differnces. It involves calculations like average daily attendance.

Role Definition:
As a student teacher I was assigned to take attendance of class for 3 months January, February and March 2012.

Rules and procedures:
The following rules are in place regarding handling of Attendance register.
ü An attendance register is to be kept in the place provided for it in the office after the use.
ü Everyday attendance is to be taken before the assembly and after the break without fail.
ü Any absence of a student beyond 10 days has to be brought to the notice of the principal.

Progress report
Objectives:
To know the systematic procedure of handling and maintaining progress registers in school.
Introduction:
A progress report is a mirror of achievements and all the experiences that a student has got in his one year of schooling in a particular class. It shows how successful a student has been in the various aspects of teaching learning process. It gives the total picture of the student’s capabilities in various areas. Traditional view of progress card/register is that it contains details of marks secured in 5/ 6 subjects offered alongside attendance. But, with the advent of NCF and Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation, its scope has increased and it started showcasing various talents of a student and his status regarding various aspects of learning. At present it involves the physical fitness details such as height weight co-curricular activities and extracurricular activities. It in simple words can be described as an amalgamation of all the records pertaining to the performance of student at school.

Role Definition:
I have opted for preparation of result of class for the academic year 2011-12.

Observations:
ü Progress report has two pages and three parts.
ü First we enter the details of the student like name father name admission no Class Date of birth
ü Next we enter the details of his attendance from the attendance register.
ü Next we enter Part 1 details viz. academic performance details in scholastic areas in different tests conducted throughout the year under CCE which include day to day class room activities like quizzes debates etc. These credits are given by the respective subject teachers in a prescribed format.
ü Part 2 contains co scholastic areas which were rated on 5 point scale part 2 has 4 sub sections viz.
ü 2[a] Life Skills – assessed by the class teacher himself through anecdotal record
ü 2[b] work education- TGT[WE] gives credits basing on the activities he conduct during regular periods.
ü 2[c] Visual and performing arts given by the music/dance teacher
ü and
ü 2[d] Attitudes and values  based on the teacher communities’ remarks on the student/class teacher’s observations.
ü Part 3 contains 2 sections viz.

Addressing the school assembly
Objectives:
-To develop confidence and effective communication skills.
-To acquire the needed competency and skill of addressing the school assembly on the contemporary topics.
Introduction:
Morning assembly is one of the ceremonies of the school where children stand ready to grasp the essence of the day. It is one of the best opportunities for teacher to motivate the student to think out of box and develop awareness about various happenings around him. It stands a good dais for learning to happen in a more informal and natural way. A good teacher sees a resource in morning assembly and utilizes it for the utmost benefit of his student community. In my Endeavour to  join such elites I too have joined them by planning and executing the following address in assembly.

Planning:
While planning for a morning assembly address my mentors have rightly suggested me to keep the following things in the mind.
ü Time constraint: All the virtues of morning assembly time becomes vices once we drag it for hours unnecessarily. An ideal morning assembly timing keeping the attention span of students in mind shall be between 15 to 20 minutes. To accommodate a speech / lecture, we have planned to cut short news and special items for the day.
ü Placement: Occasion selection plays key role as speaking about a rainbow formation on a rainy day invokes interest while its explanation on a hot summer morning irritates.
ü Words and Literature: Suggestion of using simple words and less idiomatic sentences is adopted for all my address as it helps me take my topic into the maximum number of children possible.

Topics and Occasions:
Topic
Occasion
Brother hood
Thinking day 22-02-2012
Importance Of Maths
7 th march world Maths day
Life of a soldier
NCC unit announcement day
2-04-12
Tsunamis
Tsunami warning issued on previous day 10-04-2012
Recycling papers
Recycling carnival day 20-04-12
Execusion:
World Brotherhood:
This was delivered on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the founder of the scouting and guiding movement Lord Baden Powell which is also celebrated as “world Thinking day”
As per the Scouting tradition every scout has to think about his brother/sister not blood relatives but their scout brothers and guide sisters. The importance of brotherhood in scouting and in general was explained exemplifying a few wars fought due to racial and other differences. It went within for the planned time frame of 8 minutes.
Importance of Mathematics:
World is fast developing every day. Every development has its roots in mathematics is what I have tried to convey in a short 5 minute address.
Instead of hammering the names and achievements of mathematics and mathematicians, I have given the life of great scientist Michael faraday whose theories for the lack of mathematics support were not accepted for a long time. It was Maxwell who established all the ‘assumptions’ of Faraday as Truths and facts. It went on well.

Life of a Soldier & Discipline:
My school got a new NCC unit for which I am going to be the unit leader. At present as a care taker I had to motivate the children to join it and reap the benefits. So a short speech on NCC was delivered on 2nd April the re-opening day.
In the speech I’ve stressed upon the need for discipline in achieving things and the uses of NCC in the process of achieving self discipline. A soldier’s life is depicted and how a disciplined civilian like a soldier can achieve laurels for his country was stressed.
Tsunamis
A knowledge lending short speech on tsunami formation and human factors involved in it, was delivered on 11th April 2012. A day before, a tsunami warning was issued. Students were panicked by the mild tremors faced at their residences. The severity of tsunami warning and mass media discussions on issue has guaranteed me an interesting audience.
Later some students came with some doubts which I’ve clarified after referring to various sources like internet and library books.

Recycling Papers:
ITC India ltd Bhadrachalam has conducted a 2 day carnival where children exchanged their old soiled and spoiled books for new stationary items. To motivate the students I’ve given a talk on necessity of recycling and reusing in the context of global warming and cutting of trees for papers.
